Women’s Elite Rugby (WER), the first professional women’s rugby league in the United States, has signed a landmark deal with Lumin Sports ahead of its inaugural 2025 season.

The deal will see WER supply each of its six foundation teams with access to Lumin Sports.

Lumin Sports is an Australian technology company that’s developed one app for performance monitoring, strength & conditioning programming as well as medical and team operation needs.

It’s a significant step forward for the league as it looks to establish an elite performance environment and attract the best talent from around the world.   

Director Of Performance and Athlete Wellness for Women’s Elite Rugby, Stacy Carone, said Lumin will be essential in supporting the league’s ambition to prioritise athlete health and wellbeing.

‘’WER prioritizes the total wellness of our athletes,’’ said Carone.

‘’Lumin provides us the ability to track the wellness of our athletes with high level data management, enabling us to best meet our athletes where they are.

‘’We believe in a full collaborative approach to our athlete wellness - the accessibility, total package of Lumin affords this approach as well as the ability to evolve and grow as our league continues its journey.’’

More than 380 athletes have declared themselves available to be drafted to the new league, which is more than double the amount of roster spots available.

Lumin Sports Chief Executive, Ben Tripodi, said the company is proud to be involved with the next frontier of professional women’s sport in the U.S.

Lumin Sports’ deal with WER follows deals with Major League Rugby (MLR) franchises the San Diego Legion, Utah Warriors, NOLA Gold, RFC Los Angeles and the Chicago Hounds.
