ADELAIDE, Australia - Lumin Sports is set to play a key role in developing the next generation of Barbadian Olympic athletes.
It comes as the Barbados Olympic Association (BOA) launches its Youth Project Podium initiative that aims to support the island nation’s most promising youth athletes.
The inaugural 2025 cohort consists of 19 athletes, aged 16 to 23, whose disciplines include athletics, judo, tennis, and wrestling.
Project Lead and Senior Operations Officer at the Barbados Olympic Association, Kendia Brathwaite, said the BOA will use the Lumin Sports platform to not only track and manage athlete performance, but as a central data hub for its athletes and staff.
"Lumin was selected for its cost-effectiveness, offering a comprehensive set of features essential for capturing key data on our youth athletes,’’ Brathwaite said.
‘’For a pilot initiative like the BOA Youth Project Podium, it is crucial to accurately record all activities involving the athletes.
‘’This ensures consistency across our sports professionals and provides the vital data necessary for scaling the project into a larger endeavour."
Lumin Sports’ software features in several other Olympic programs including Australian Cyclin and New Zealand Football.
Ben Tripodi, Chief Executive Officer of Lumin Sports, said the platforms’ versatility appeals to National Olympic Committees and their sports bodies.
‘’Our software brings all aspects of performance and operations into one central hub,’’ Tripodi said.
‘’It essentially reduces the amount of technology NOCs need to operate effectively which maximises efficiency and reduces costs.
‘’We’re proud to be playing a role in developing the next wave of elite athletic talent in Barbados in the lead up to both the Los Angeles 2028 and the Brisbane 2032 games.’’
