The University of Portland are the latest National Collegiate Athletics Association (NCAA) Division I program to embed Lumin Sports in its athletics department.
Coaches will use Lumin Strength to build, deliver and monitor the strength and conditioning programs of up to 500 student athletes.
The Portland Pilots, who field 14 varsity teams in the West Coast Conference (WCC), will also use Lumin’s athlete management system to track athlete wellness and performance.
Griffen Waller, Director of Sports Performance at the University of Portland, said Lumin will empower athletes to take ownership of their development.
“We’ve chosen Lumin Sports because it allows us to streamline how we deliver training, collect data, and respond to what our athletes need in real time,’’ Waller said.
‘’The integrated system empowers our coaches to make more informed decisions and gives our student-athletes a clearer, more engaging way to take ownership of their development.
‘’This marks an exciting step forward in elevating performance at the University of Portland."
The Pilots join a growing list of NCAA Division I colleges that have made the switch to Lumin Sports since the Australian sport-tech company added a strength and conditioning programmer to its offering.
Lumin Sports Chief Executive Officer, Ben Tripodi, said college athletic departments are prioritising platforms that centralise performance, operations, and medical functions in one app as well as improve athlete experience.
‘’Time is a precious commodity in athletic departments, and our aim is to give us much back to coaches and athletes so they can focus on doing what they do best, coaching and performing,’’ Tripodi said.
‘’We want them to have the data they value, accessible at the right time, and presented in a way that puts them a step closer to their peak performance.’’
‘’I want to thank Griffen for entrusting us to play a key role in the athletics department at the University of Portland and we look forward to working with the team to meet and exceed their expectations.’’
