Lumin Sports has launched a direct integration with PlayerData, enabling teams to bring PlayerData GPS metrics into Lumin and access a more complete view of athlete performance from one central platform.
Now live, the integration links the two platforms through a single API connection. Once connected, PlayerData metrics automatically sync into Lumin, removing the need for performance staff to download and re-upload GPS files into spreadsheets, reporting tools or another athlete management system.
The integration makes key measures—including distance and duration, acceleration and deceleration, and maximum velocity—available through individual athlete and team dashboards.
Staff can view these metrics alongside rate of perceived exertion (RPE), wellness and strength data, bringing multiple parts of the athlete performance picture together in one place.
By centralising this information, coaching, medical and performance staff gain shared access to the data they need. It also creates a faster path from session completion to athlete assessment, load management and reporting, reducing the administrative work involved in moving data between systems.
PlayerData VP Commercial Mat Young said the integration demonstrates what connected performance technology should deliver in practice.
We're proud to keep raising the bar at PlayerData, and our integration with Lumin Sports is another example of what that looks like in practice. By connecting our cloud-first GPS data directly into Lumin's platform, teams can now see their PlayerData metrics alongside everything else that matters instantly without any downloads. This is what a truly connected performance ecosystem should feel like.
Lumin Sports Head of Product James McKechnie said the integration builds on Lumin’s commitment to making important athlete information easier for practitioners to access and use.
Lumin prides itself on connecting coaches with the information they need, when they need it.
“By integrating with PlayerData and their world-class GPS offering, we’re providing performance staff with a complete athlete profile that helps them make better decisions without adding complexity.
“It's another way we’re evolving and proactively supporting our clients.
For practitioners already using both platforms, the integration brings previously separate parts of the performance workflow together.
At the University of Edinburgh, Physical Preparation Coach Euan Uttley currently uses PlayerData GPS primarily to track match loads, while Lumin supports the university’s strength and conditioning programming. With plans to expand the use of both platforms across training and load monitoring, he said the connection would make athlete management and reporting significantly easier.
Bringing our GPS, load and strength data together in one place would make a real difference to how we assess and manage our athletes. It will also simplify reporting, giving coaches easier access to the information they need, when they need it.
“Ultimately, this integration will streamline the process of importing and reporting data, saving us time and helping coaches and athletes access valuable insights much faster.”
The PlayerData integration is now available inside Lumin Sports, helping teams bring GPS, load, wellness and strength information together while reducing the time and friction involved in transferring and reporting data.
PlayerData provides wearable GPS performance-tracking technology that helps teams and athletes monitor training load, performance and health metrics. Its connected devices and cloud-based platform transform athlete data into accessible insights that support coaching decisions and athlete development.
Lumin Sports is an Australian sports technology company. Its software provides teams with one connected platform to manage athletic performance, team operations, strength and conditioning programming, and medical administration.
